In this workshop we will explore the impulse to create and the ways in which we may recognize and not recognize poetry and art as such. The workshop offers an open space for questions and exploration about craft, representation, power, and audience by reading and thinking about poems by Ocean Vuong, Jose Olivarez, Wang Ping, Craig Santos Perez, Solmaz Sharif and M. Nourbese Philip.
People at any level are welcome, and Bao will lead participants through guided reading and writing prompts to honor and harness the creative power that everyone holds.
Through our shared captivation with language and its power, attentiveness to our responses to the readings, and imaginative exercises, Bao will create an intimate environment even while we meet virtually. “I hope this workshop will lead us all into unexpected vistas and brave considerations.”
