(Not) Staying Still:
A curated exhibition of artists whose work explores movement and motion, a restless resistance to stillness, and at the same time, a unique ability to catch and create quiet moments amidst the chaos. This work tackles movement and motion literally, in terms of kinetic sculptures which physically move, as well as more abstractly, through works which imply movement in their gestural aesthetic, and more conceptually, movement and motion in relation to the act of walking, dancing, relocation, migration, shifting of time, memory, tides, ebbs and flows. All of this movement is made in search of human connection, a sense of belonging, and place; when it’s quiet you can hear your own heartbeat. The work spans a variety of mediums, including sculpture, video, photography, painting, drawing, and performance, and is presented in conjunction with the inaugural BAC Artists-in-Residence Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company.
The exhibit will run from May 12 through June 10.
Galleries will be open Monday-Thursday 10:00am-2:00pm for the duration of the exhibit.
