An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until October 25, 2022
Join us to experience the thrill of Sculpture in the Round!
Tuesdays – 9/20 – 10/25 (10am – 11am)
From the The Löwenmensch figurine and the Venus of Willlendorf (both made approximately 40,000 years ago) to the contemporary works of such figures as Paige Bradley and Damien Hirst lies a vast and remarkable tradition—Sculpture.
In this six-week online course, we’ll journey through time to explore some of the greatest sculptors—and sculptures—in existence. Artists we look at will include such figures as Praxiteles, della Quercia, Donatello, Michelangelo, Rodin, Claudel, Brâncusi, Giacometti, Bourgeois, Calder, Botero, Noguchi, and Serra among many others.
The Bust of Nefertiti (1345 BCE), The Terracotta Army (c. 210 BCE), Laocoön and His Sons (2nd C. BCE), Picasso’s Guitar of 1912, Marisol’s Women and Dog (1963-64), and Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate (2006) are just a few of the significant works we’ll examine.
