Peter Leeds - girl drawing

Drawing from a life model is invaluable, as there is no better way to observe the human body and the multitude of poses it can hold.

This class will have a step-by-step approach to the fundamentals of drawing the figure in the classical tradition. Students will learn to bring a drawing to life from observation and understanding the structure behind the form. Working from a live model, we will discover the graceful and interesting compositions using traditional and contemporary drawing tools. We will provide everything you need to create a successful traditional figure drawing and leave you with the knowledge of form, structure, and basic anatomy. All levels are welcomed as the course will be individually structured to fit each student differently. Materials will be provided.

Instructor Bio:

Peter Leeds is a fine artist based in Westchester NY. His work is about the possibility of recreating real experience in physical terms. He has a traditional background receiving his Masters in anatomical drawing and figurative painting from New York Academy of Art in New York , NY with an undergraduate BFA from SUNY Cortland College. Peter Leeds uses oil paint, watercolors, acrylic paint and sometimes a simple pencil to spark the viewers imagination. He has a deep understanding of material in order to solve the problem.

Mr. Leeds uses a wide range of subjects from Old Masters’ techniques and theories to philosophy, literature, and nature. While these inquiries may not have been as methodical as investigations on a single topic, he has succeeded in channeling them into a comprehensive body of knowledge that is reflected in his art.
