To sculpt? To draw? To talk? Join BAC Emerging Artist Fellow Catherine Liebowitz in Bethany’s garage during ARToberfest to experience an Interactive Open Studio.  

Visitors can choose to observe Catherine working on a clay piece or take part in one of the activities that will be available. Try out parts of her process, brainstorm names for sculptures, or come by for a chat to learn about one of Bethany’s many Artists-in-Residence. 

ABOUT CATHERINE
Catherine Liebowitz is a sculptor who works primarily in clay, plaster, and stone. Their work focuses on the abstraction of fragments of human anatomy, which result in forms that feel alive but no longer human. 

Catherine has participated in a number of student shows as well as a group intern show at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in Vermont after spending last summer as one of their intern residents. Most recently they had a Certificate Graduation Exhibition at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture, and are now excited to see how this body of work will continue to develop from working with the diverse group of artists that the Bethany Arts Community contains.  

This Community Program is a part of BAC’s Emerging Artist Fellowship, generously supported by The New York Community Trust. As part of a residency at BAC, we ask each artist to build and facilitate a Community Program. Community Programs are a unique opportunity for both artists-in-residence and our local community to gather, engage, and be in conversation with one another through art. Community Programs are free engagements open to the public and/or in collaboration with a local community partners.
