Mark your calendar and join us for an evening of “Endless Embossabilities!”- learning, creating and exploring this centuries-old craft-of-many-names.
The fine art of metal embossing or metal relief, known as repouss or repujado, is the working of metal to give volume and depth to a decorative design engraved on metal and is always crafted by hand. This is a great beginner’s class AND a fun way to brush up on your existing skills.
Our class project is a 5″x5” embossed metal ‘sampler’ that will be as unique as you are, embellished with several basic texture techniques (Zentanglers, this class is for you!). We will learn how to mount the finished piece on a wood tile (provided), but if you have a journal, box, or other personal object you might like to adorn instead, bring it in!
This is a techniques-based class, and Cherie will walk you through various uses for each tool and simple embossing techniques as you develop your basic skills in metal embossing using simple hand tools as we embellish your 36-gauge annealed aluminum masterpiece.
A large selection of ideas and patterns will be provided, but if you have a favorite image (keep it simple), stencil or rubber stamp, bring it along to class! There’s a good chance you can use it as part of the design to embellish your piece.
Cherie will share her tools and expertise – you bring your fun, creative self. That’s it, we’ll supply the rest!
All skill levels are welcome! Ages 12 – 200
