Getting your process unstuck: Embodied practices for creative blocks with BAC Artist-In-Residence Laura Perovich

Getting your process unstuck: Embodied practices for creative blocks
with BAC Artist-in-Residence Laura Perovich
Date & Time: Thursday, September 24, 2026 7-8:30PM
FREE Community Program. Registration encouraged, walk-ins welcome until we reach capacity.
This workshop explores the creative blocks that are part of many artistic practices. When there’s no way forward on a project, how can we find a way over, under, and around?
Participants should bring a project they’re feeling creatively stuck on. All media are welcome, including visual arts, writing, music, movement, and craft, among others.
During the workshop, we will find our way through our stuckness through individual and group explorations. Activities will include structured reflection, experimentation, and embodied movement practices, and will be adaptable to individual needs, interests, and concerns. Optional hands-on work may be offered.
ABOUT LAURA
Laura Perovich is an interdisciplinary artist and designer. Her practice explores the push and pull between people and technologies through the lenses of craft, community, and corporality. She creates textile art and embodied experiences that aim to help us find something interesting about who we are, alone and together. Perovich received her PhD from MIT and is an associate professor at Northeastern University. Her work also draws on her experience as a dancer, somatic practitioner in training, environmentalist, and maker.
This Community Program is a part of BAC’s Annual Fall Multidisciplinary Residency. As part of a residency at BAC, we ask each artist to build and facilitate a Community Program. Community Programs are a unique opportunity for both artists-in-residence and our local community to gather, engage, and be in conversation with one another through art. Community Programs are free engagements open to the public and/or in collaboration with a local community partners.
