Join us in celebrating our first year participating in UPSTATE ART WEEKEND with local + live music, open exhibition and grounds, and s’more making to kick off the weekend right!
At the heart of Bethany Arts Community (BAC) are our local studio artists: the creative and beautiful people who call BAC home. Coming from Ossining and greater Westchester, BAC’s studio artists help shape our community where artists from all walks of life support each other, connect, and collaborate.
At UPSTATE ART WEEKEND, BAC will host a unique exhibition in our galleries celebrating our studio artists. Mediums include painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, ceramics, costume, mixed media collage, and more. To kick off the weekend, we’ll host a special opening party on Friday evening with local & live music by MoonWives and s’more making in our Garden of Peace and Love. On Saturday and Sunday, BAC’s resident art historian Dr. Jill Kiefer will lead tours, for a chance to view the exhibition from an art history lens. At open studios on Saturday and Sunday, come meet the artists and step inside their studio spaces.
BAC sits on 25 acres! The public is invited to tour our flower, herb and vegetable gardens, learn about our bees with BAC’s beekeeper, experience our outdoor sculpture park, meditate at the Tree of Knowledge within the Circle of Wisdom, and stroll along the walking trail.
MoonWives is the, not so demonic, outcome of combining weird, witchy, singer-songwriters, Joanna Levine and Jupiter Dune, to create an eclectic indie duo that’s heavy on harmonies and guitar, light on the hexes. Usually. The two navigate heart and sound through original music as well as a wide spectrum of covers, altered as they see fit. Take a listen, or stop by and bow eccentrically to receive 2 years good fortune.
UPSTATE ART WEEKEND (UPAW) is a connective annual event, for locals and tourists alike, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York. The fourth edition of UPAW will take place Friday, July 21, through Monday, July 24, 2023.
UPAW launched in 2020 with 23 participants, expanding to over 130 in 2023, welcoming thousands of visitors to the region each year. The participants are art organizations, galleries, museums, residencies, and creative projects.
