An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, repeating until October 29, 2022
Saturdays – 9/24 – 10/29 (10am – 11am)
Women have been making art since the dawn of time. Yet their work, when compared to that of their male counterparts, has been often overlooked and remains undervalued.
In this six-week online course, we’ll examine the contributions of women to the history of art, focusing on their unique perspectives and the ways in which they re-envisioned their roles as artists.
In addition to the more famous females we know— Artemisia, Morisot, Cassatt, O’Keeffe, Kahlo, Krasner and the like—we will also look at women artists who are still often under-represented in scholarship. Hilma af Klint, Caterina van Hemessen, Marie-Gabrielle Capet, Harriet Powers and Janet Sobel are just a few of the many, many amazing artists we’ll visit on this exciting journey!
