Young Artist Residents Justin Gordon (AKA Most Turnt Nerd), Mayah Pico, and Kai Liguori present On Portals, Parallels, and Emotion.
Our multi-talented Young Artists work in a variety of mediums in their crafts and showcase them in this exhibit, Justin focusing on live music, music videos, and comics, Mayah focusing on collage, tie-dye, and poetry, and Kai focusing on oil painting and wood burning. To see our Young Artists in action, visit us on September 30, 2023 from 5:30-7:30PM for their opening reception, to enjoy a live performance from Most Turnt Nerd and to witness and experience Mayah, Kai, and Justin’s work.

Justin Gordon (AKA Most Turnt Nerd)
Justin Alexander Gordon is an artist and educator. He went from getting kicked out of high school, to enrolling in community college while living with his mom, to being a commencement speaker graduate at the University of Michigan, to graduating from Harvard University. Gordon has taught theatre, creative writing and language arts or presented at nearly 50 different educational institutions across the United States in his career. Gordon credits Jesus and his family for his success. Artistically, he is the published author of a book of poems called Six Mile Negus on the Honor Roll at Michigan. He studied at the O’Neill theatre center in Connecticut, the Music and Theatre Arts department at MIT in Massachusetts, Complicite Theatre in London, and is a alumni member of the Lin Manuel Miranda family fellowship. Gordon is a trained and experienced actor and rapper, and is from Detroit, Michigan.
Mayah Pico is a poet and visual artist who utilizes the state of artistic creation to express the feelings and intuitions of the mind, body, and soul that can’t be conveyed through traditional language. She communes with the natural world to tell stories that emphasize the inherent strength conjured in states of vulnerability with hopes of inspiring reflection, redemption, and healing.
Her visual art has appeared in England-based magazine spreads and adorned walls and bodies on both sides of the Atlantic. She was selected as a finalist for the Patricia Eschen Prize for poetry.
Kai Liguori is a visual artist residing in Westchester, New York. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Art History from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2023. His work has been featured in multiple exhibitions, including the SUNY Global Abstraction Exhibition (SUNY Global Center, NYC), the Sunrise/Sunset Art Show (Brooklyn, NY), and most recently Sweet Lorraine Gallery’s exhibition titled “Queer Bodies” (Brooklyn, NY). His work has been featured as the cover of Art History Insider magazine at FIT, as well as in the W27 Newspaper at FIT. He was also selected to be featured as part of the Creatively Class of 2023 as the Fine Arts representative.
