BAC Sculpture Artist Stultz featured in Westchester Magazine

Bethany Arts Community will unveil the very first sculpture installed on Bethany’s front lawn. Made in Westchester by Dobbs Ferry Sultz artist Malcolm MacDougall III.

An artist’s vision need not be limited to what they can personally create with their two hands, thanks to people like Malcolm MacDougall III. His company, Sultz in Dobbs Ferry, helps artists bring their ideas into reality, by welding large steel structures, casting sculptures in bronze, or whatever large job needs doing to prepare for an installation. MacDougall, an artist himself, says his sensibility helps bring out the subtleties of the artists’ intentions. One of MacDougall’s own large works was recently installed at the Bethany Arts Community in Ossining.

Bethany Arts Community will unveil the very first sculpture installed on Bethany’s front lawn. ‘Microscopic Landscape’, a 5 ton weathered steel sculpture by Artist, Malcolm MacDougall III, was nestled into it’s new home at Bethany back in February. Join us for a reception following the unveiling along with a last chance to see the exhibit by local artists currently on display in our galleries.

Scribbler Art Summer Camp at Bethany Arts Community

Scribbler Art Summer Camp at Bethany Arts Community

We are so excited to be “setting up camp” in the newly opened and wonderful Bethany Arts Community in Ossining, NY. We’ll be offering 3 weeks of camp for grades K-4 in August. Camp includes daily walks and collaborative outdoor earthworks, open play, lunch and of course, tons of art-making in the studio! Healthy snack is provided, you send a bagged lunch.

Week 1 (August 13th-17th) Super Size Me | Large Scale Art

Is bigger better? This week of camp it will be! If your artists dream big, then this week is for them. We will begin the week by creating GIANT self-portraits. Next, we’ll explore all the steps to creating large-scale creature sculptures from drawing a sketch, to building an armature, to adding form and finally to adding “skin” using plaster and paint. At the end of the week, we will invite our families to our ginormous art show to check out our work.

Week 2 (August 20th-24th) From Start to Finish | Maze & Puzzle Week

We will START our week creating complex 3-D puzzles and FINISH our week with some a-mazeing board games! There will be a lot of exciting twists and turns along the way, beware of traps. We will END our week with a game night (during the day) where families can join us to test out our games!

Week 3 (August 27th-31st) Back to School in Style | DIY School Supplies

What is the best way to kick those end of summer blues? How about making your own Back-to-School supplies?! Artists will spend the week creating unique and beautiful school supplies. From printing your own backpack design to painting your binders and molding your own erasers! We will end our week by inviting our families to our “Back to School” Fashion Show!
